1) Disney’s deal to buy the rest of Hulu from Comcast is done. Disney paid “only” an additional $438.7 million to gain full ownership of Hulu. “Only??” Comcast argued for an additional $5 billion for the 33% stake, but after a ‘years long appraisal process,’ a third-party appraiser sided with Disney.

2) ‘Wicked: For Good’ trailer reaches 113 million views in 24 hours. For reference, the first ‘Wicked’ film reached 75 million. Despite having a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes, fans clearly still want more.

3) Warner Bros. Discovery is set to split into two companies. One will be devoted to streaming and content production, whereas the other will be for traditional television. This move is in response to a decline in overall business lately.

🧠 Deeper Insight: The separation is expected to be completed by mid-2026, and the bulk of the current company’s debt (nearly $38 billion) will be assigned to the TV conglomerate. The company’s CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels“ who has become known for finding new ways to cut old costs” notably will be leading the charge.

4) 90 second “microdramas” are earning writers 6-figures annually and actors $40k per month. No those words aren’t typos, these swipeable scripted stories may be the future of series consumption.

5) J Balvin, Doja Cat and Tems to Headline First-Ever FIFA Club World Cup Halftime Show. The nonprofit, Global Citizen, is producing the show and Chris Martin of Coldplay is curating the event.

..Also not confirmed yet, but looks like Dua Lipa may perform at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show.
