1) Media companies spent $210 billion on content in 2024, up 4% year over year. Why does that matter to you?

The $210B spend is about precision. Sports rights keep climbing while scripted TV cools. Translation: the “throw money at everything” era is over. Companies are placing targeted bets where the return is clearest. For someone breaking in, that means niches (sports docs, short-form, vertical videos, everything creator economy) are probably where you want to be.Youtube moves into 2nd:
YouTube dropping $32B (more than Disney for the first time ever!) is the real headline. The shift is obvious: audiences live in the creator economy. UGC is outpacing every other format and will keep expanding thanks to ad dollars and FAST (Pluto, Tubi etc.)AI is only going to turbocharge the above:
Cheap production, hyper-targeted distribution. Sure but… with the rise in AI, real audiences and digital niche communities will become more important that ever, and that’s where the ad dollars will continue to go in the long term.
2) Coachella 2026 sold out for the first time since 2023, just three days after passes go on sale. 1) Hell Yea 2) Why?
Bieber hasn’t played a US show since 2022 and all 3 headliners pulled their weight
Sept release = fans haven’t spent their $$ on holiday gifts yet

3) Netflix and AB InBev struck a first-of-its kind deal
Both win:
Netflix’s ad tier already reaches 94M+ users across 12 countries just two years after launch. AB InBev (Bud, Stella, Corona etc.) now gets built-in global scale with local customization.
Netflix isn’t just on your screen anymore. These partnerships allow the brand and their IP to show up in people’s, fridges and your old frat.
🏃 Industry Moves
Mayhem continues at Paramount as they part ways with yet another executive, Marc Weinstock. The now former President of Worldwide Marketing & Distribution led the way for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ & ‘A Quiet Place,’ and is rumored to be getting replaced by Josh Goldstine who was in charge of marketing for ‘Dune’ & ‘Barbie.’ Feels like a blockbuster move.
ASCAP welcomes on a new member of their Board of Directors, Alisa Coleman, and they also recently promoted Nicole George-Middleton to EVP & Head of Creative Membership. The performing rights company continues to bolster their roster amidst record breaking revenues.
