1) First it wanted to chill, now its making plans with you IRL. Netflix just announced its first permanent “Netflix House” locations: 100,000-square-foot entertainment + shopping playgrounds opening in Philly (Nov 12) and Dallas (Dec 11), with Vegas on deck for 2027.
Why it matters:
IP isn’t just for screens anymore. Think Squid Game mini-golf, Stranger Things VR Escape Rooms, Kpop Demon Hunters Karaoke Bars (Netflix if you steal that last one I’ll come for ya).
More jobs opportunities. Experiential, PR, events, hospitality etc. New ways for the rising class of Hollywood to “break-in” at places like Netflix & other giants.
The culture pivot. Studios used to chase box office. Now they’re chasing subscribers and foot traffic. Will it be successful?
Between 2017 and 2022, the number of malls dropped by 16.7% per year, with 87% of large-scale malls projected to close by 2035.
Yes but.. 80% of retail sales still happen in-store.
2) Spotify unveils new in-app direct messaging feature. The company says that ‘this is just the beginning’ for the DM feature. Imagine if this was around for Adam Levine?

3) ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is now officially Netflix’ most popular English language film of all time. Wild. Unrelated but kinda not: Happy Gilmore 2 cost $152.5 million to make. Wild.
4) Travis Kelce makes a surprise announcement: partnering with American Eagle who try to right their ship with Tru Kolors by Travis Kelce. Also something else happened with him yesterday but I haven’t heard anyone talking about it too much.
