Wicked leads global box-office with $164 million, and Gladiator ll surpasses $220 million worldwide. This was no Barbenheimer, but it still led to one of the film industry’s biggest moments of the year. Breakdown the numbers here.
Kendrick Lamar mentioned Lil Wayne in his surprise album GNX, and while the album itself is worthwhile news, Wayne already replied by saying “I shall destroy if I’m disturbed.” Are we on the cusp of yet another Kendrick rap beef? More on what’s bubbling here.
On that topic… Drake has accused their shared record label Universal Music Group as well as Spotify for artificially inflating Kendrick’s Not Like Us through bots and a “pay-to-play” scheme. UMG has denied his allegations.
Billie Eilish has been named Apple Music’s Artist of The Year for a second time, after a year that saw a historic second Academy Award win and two additional GRAMMY awards for her track “What Was I Made For?” in Barbie. Read Apple Music’s announcement here.
Taylor Swift, Zach Bryan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Morgan Wallen are all up for nominations for this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The show is set to take place on December 12th, and you can find the full list of nominees to prepare for the event here.
Christmas music already begins it’s one month a year ascent to the top of the charts, with WHAM! and Mariah Carey expected to re-enter the Billboard Top 10 this Friday. More predictions for the charts this week can be found here.
Adele “weeps” after her 100th and final show of her two-year Las Vegas residency. She previously announced an indefinite hiatus from music once her tenure was up, but at least she’ll be financially set for the next 300 years while she figures out what’s next. Full story here.

🧠 I rarely have the attention span to listen to an entire album let alone a 6 hour podcast. I’m halfway through (3 sittings so far) the Acquired about the rise of Meta (formally Facebook). Put it on to get away from your annoying relatives over Thanksgiving.
🧠 Like many - I’ve moved on from Twitter / X. A buddy introduced me to Spread. Cool resource for seeing what your friends and other industry people are reading. I connected with the founder and he sent this link to download the app and skip the waitlist.
