🐝 Looping You In (7 things to casually mention to your co-workers & boss to make you sound smart)

1) Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ raced to a $55.6 million domestic and $144 million global launch. Not bad for a 61 year old F1 driver! It was the first time an Apple original film has landed at #1 in the box office, and Brad Pitt’s biggest opening ever. After several failures, Apple finally has a major win on the board. F1 beat Apple Studio productions:

• Killers of the Flower Moon ($23.2 million opening). Ended up bringing in $158.8 million worldwide vs. a $200 million budget.

• Ridley Scott's Napoleon ($20.6 million opening). Napoleon ended up grossing $221.4 million worldwide, but needed ~$600 million to break even.

🧠 Industry Insight: Analysts have estimated that ‘F1’ cost $250 million to make and an additional $125 million to market, so will need some juice to hit profitability, whatever that means anymore.

2) In related news, Apple Music hit their 10-year anniversary. They celebrated by opening the doors to a 15,000 square foot studio in Culver City for musicians to write, record and film video content. They also released a “Replay All Time” feature that will embarrass you by uncovering with all of the cringe music you’ve listened to secretly over the past decade.

3) Sabrina Carpenter helped raise $1 million for mental health initiatives, LGBTQ+ rights, and animal welfare. Carpenter partnered with PLUS1 which she promoted throughout her Short n’ Sweet tour, and currently has the fastest growing artist fund to date. Hell yea.

4) Amazon MGM partners with Sony Pictures for new international theatrical distribution deal. The partnership includes 4 films until March of 2026, and Sony will handle releasing all of the titles overseas. The first project includes a star-studded cast of Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and AvA account favorite Ayo Edebiri.

5) Glastonbury was this weekend. Here are a few highlights:

• The 1975 played their only show of 2025 and ended it with a possible teaser for their next album

• Olivia Rodrigo brought out both Ed Sheeran and Robert Smith of The Cure during her headlining set.

• Lewis Capaldi made his live music comeback after a 2-year hiatus. He returned to the same stage he suffered vocal issues in 2023 which were attributed to his then-recent diagnosis with Tourette’s. LOVE to see this. Awesome guy everyone should be rooting for.

• Lorde played her new album ‘Virgin’ in its entirety during a surprise show that she says “may be a one of one performance.”

6) This September, the philanthropic event Creators in Action will honor two industry leaders: top creator and streamer Valkyrae, and Pocket.Watch founder and CEO Chris Williams. The event fundraises for the Saban Community Clinic, who has provided free healthcare in LA for over 55 years. In its inaugural year, they celebrated Rhett & Link and Adam Kaller (top attorney in the space), and year 2 saw Jay Shetty and Malik Ducard (Chief Content Officer at Pinterest). Tix & learn more.

7) Warner Music Group Launches $1.2B Joint Venture With Bain Capital. The fund will focus on the acquisition of iconic catalogs. Read more here.
