1) Spotify and Apple Music continue to jockey for the top spot in the streaming wars
Background: Spotify launched in 2008, Amazon Music in 2014, and Apple Music in 2015, giving them all years of head start before YouTube Music arrived in 2018.
YouTube Music grew 13% YoY, outpacing Spotify and Apple’s single-digit gains, yet still is 5x smaller than Spotify.
Why? YouTube trained the world to expect music for free and their platform is dominated by free, ad-supported access.

2) Disney+’s original content viewing dropped 55% from ‘22 to ‘25. But help is on the way.
This was the steepest drop off for viewing of original content from any of the major streamers during that period.

Why?
Their output of original content went from 40 original series premiering in ‘22 to ‘16 in 2025. The solution? Hulu.
Hulu is slowly integrating into Disney+ after Disney’s fully acquired Comcast’s remaining shares in June of 2025.
Hulu’s viewership of original content currently sits at over double their now parent company (40.5 billion minutes watched)
The final product? Disney will jump back up to 9% of total streaming viewer share, taking on Hulu’s 6% to add to their current mark of 3%.
3) What Artist has gotten booked on the most major U.S. festivals the last decade?

Kind of wild to see Role Model on here, given he dropped his first album in 2022

Taylor Sheridan is expected to leave Paramount for NBCUniversal. The ‘Yellowstone’ creator is a rare L for Paramount who has recently scooped up South Park Creators, The Duffer brothers and is rumored to be eyeing Jon Stewart next.
Warner Music Group scoops up Lisa Yang from Goldman Sachs after 16 years with the company. Her new role is as the EVP, Global Head of Strategy, and even though this may seem random at face value, she has led Goldman’s annual ‘Music In The Air’ report since she launched it 10 years ago.
Tribeca brings on former BBC exec Rebecca Glashow as their new CEO. She replaces Co-Founder Jane Rosenthal, who will now be Co-Chair of the Board.

A weekly series from Dominik, who leads our Strategy, Growth and Product.
Justin Bieber is a streamer (yes that rhymed intentionally)
The streaming effect is real from IShowSpeed’s NFL show featuring Tom Brady to Kim Kardashian appearing on Kai Cenat these personalities have captured the next generation of audiences for sure and now large celebrities have to go on their shows to stay “in the conversation” in other words, show up in short form clips on TikTok.
Now Justin Bieber enters the streaming race:
This is one of many examples of streaming going “mainstream.” The rise of clipping for short form + AI flooding feeds, driving craving for real, unedited, unscripted content, is creating a super trend.
This is the parasocial relationship social media created on steroids 🚀
