Beyoncé will perform at halftime show of NFL Christmas Day game on Netflix in the streaming giant’s first ever NFL Christmas Gameday. She will alledegly bringing some “special guests” to her hometown show in Houston between the Texans & Baltimore Ravens. Even through all of their technical difficulties during the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson “fight” last week, over 60m viewers tuned in to the Netflix broadcast. We are witnessing the future of live sports distribution whether you are subscribed or not.

Happy Coachella lineup day? (maybe week but I think day) to all those who celebrate. Rumors circulating that the headliners will be Post Malone (already confirmed by him “leaking it” yesterday, Lady Gaga, Travis Scott and Green Day (source). Fred Again.. has long been rumored to play the festival (again). Now we wait.

Spotify co-Founders cashed out on $419.1 million of their shares in Spotify as the stock closed at an all time high last week. The majority of the sales this time came from Rosello Company Ltd., whose sole shareholder is Spotify co-founder Martin Lorentzon, cashing out a SWEET $383.3 million ($450 million since June). His co-founder, and more household name, Daniel Ek cashed out a measly $35.8 million, bringing his 18-month total to $376.3 million.

Independent Artists and Labels had a 46.7% global share of recorded music in 2023 (compared to 35% in the U.S.) according to MIDiA. Non-major shares were particularly high in Asia Pacific, sub-Saharan Africa. Middle East and North Africa, continuing on a trend that is the democratization of music streaming platforms, and major labels losing their gatekeeping power of music distribution through the growing open-access of online platforms.
