1) The Emmy Nominations have been announced, and ‘Severance’ leads the way with 27. Highlights below:

• ‘The Studio’ comes in at a close second with 23

• HBO Max led the network tally with 142 (up from the previous best in 2022 of 140)

• UTA had the most noms (243) from the Agency side

• The biggest shocker? No ‘Squid Games’ anywhere to be found. Full list here.

• My pick for the Outstanding Supporting Role category though is my therapist getting me through pilot season.

2) TIME released their first ever list of the Top 100 Digital Creators. The list included 12 categories such as Conversation Leaders & Lifestyle Influencers, and featured acts ranging from Alex Cooper and Joe Rogan, to Charli D’Amelio and Kai Cenat.

3) ‘Inside the $3 Billion ‘South Park’ Fight that may blow up its future.’ Buckle up because it’s a messy one.

4) After an 11-month strike by video game actors over generative AI, SAG-AFTRA has officially ratified its contract with major gaming companies. There is a lot that went into this one, and you can read the full breakdown for what was included here.

5) Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath’s final show on July 5 was the highest grossing charity show of all time. It raised more (rumored to be ~$190 million) than FireAid and Farm Aid combined, and the 3 benefactors were Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorn Children’s Hospice, and Cure Parkinson’s, a group working to find a cure for the illness Osbourne’s been battling since 2019.

6) Google has launched a film and TV production wing with a slate of “tech positive” projects on the horizon. Read about the “100 Zeros” project, with is a collaboration with Range Media Partners, who recently asked the judge to drop CAA’s massive case against them.

7) The domestic box office is up by $600 million over the last year, but it is still down by 25% from before the pandemic. Other charts available here.
