The 2025 Grammy Awards Ceremony will go on as planned despite the L.A. wildfires. The Academy and MusiCares CEO’s released a joint statement saying, “This year’s show will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours.” Do with that information what you will, but we can all hope that this is a good decision in the long run. In other Grammy-related news, Universal Music Group has cancelled their own GRAMMYs events (Artist Showcase & Afterparty), and instead will reroute all resources to assist those dealing with loss from the wildfires. Read their statement here.

Oscar nominations have been delayed again till Jan. 23 (originally scheduled for Jan. 17) as L.A. fires continue to disrupt awards season. Voting for this year's nominations has also been extended until Jan. 17, from the previously scheduled Jan. 12.

Below is the amount major studios have committed to L.A. wildfire relief funds (so far):

• Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery: $15 million

• Amazon, Netflix and Comcast: $10 million

• Sony: $5 million

• Paramount: $1 million.

SZA smashed countless records with the release of her deluxe album for ‘SOS,’ and now she plans to make “peaceful children’s music” to fulfill the last two albums on her contract. Once those are in the books, she tweeted saying “[I’ll] go be a farmer n donate the produce to underserved communities.” That’s easy to say when you’re on top of the Billboard Artist 100 for the second time, but I’m glad at least one of us has plans to leave the industry before we’re 90. Saturday Night Live is celebrating it’s 50th anniversary this year. Celebrations include a docuseries on Peacock (which was just announced), and a special episode this coming February.

Streaming revenue in the UK is up 7.8% year over year, as per a stat from Entertainment Retailers’ Association. Over 2.5 billion pounds were spent in 2024 compared to just above 1.8 billion in 2023. That’s a lot of money spent on streaming, innit? Crunch the numbers here.

2025 is set to be a huge year for music, and a lot of artists have already set their album release plans in motion. Notable acts include Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd, Japanese Breakfast, and more, and you can find Billboard’s most updated list here.

My Chemical Romance’s lead singer, Gerard Way, is set to voice… a Dungeons and Dragons pinball machine? This is extremely exciting news for a niche part of the entertainment world, and you can find more on that here if that includes you.
