We will be bringing AvA LIVE to festivals and major events. Announcements soon.

1) Netflix is debuting the ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 finale on streaming and in theaters simultaneously - a first for TV.

It’s rare for TV shows to run in theaters as it is, but it’s been done before by ‘Stranger Things’ S4 as well as by ‘Game of Thrones’ a handful of times.

Netflix, once allergic to theaters, is suddenly flirting with the big screen. The Upside Down must’ve flipped their strategy too.

2) UMG built its own influencer app, and called her Carmen.

House of Carmen, it’s own in-house influencer app lets UMG directly brief, pay, and gamify campaigns with micro-creators (1K+ followers), cutting out third-party middlemen.

By owning the tech, data, and talent relationships, it’s turning what was once outsourced buzz into a core label infrastructure.

Name origin? Carmen = Latin for “song.” Still weird.

3) Meta is laying off 600 employees in its AI unit to create ‘more nimble operations.’

Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang who joined as a product of Meta investing $14.3 billion in ScaleAI made the call, which notably does not include anyone that Meta brought on during their $100 million compensation package spree earlier this year.

On his decision: “By reducing the size of our team, fewer conversations will be required to make a decision.” I mean uh yea?

4) IMAX pulled in a record breaking Q3 earnings report that includes a 48% increase in net income, and a revenue rise of 17%.

BuT I tHoUgHt ThEaTeRs WeRe DeAd?!?!

‘F1’ fueled the charge using IMAX cameras to film key action sequences, which had the waterfall effect of them using IMAX’s brand in their marketing materials more heavily.

The film grossed $97 million on IMAX screens alone which made it the most successful film for the company of the year so far. They also got a lift from projects like ‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle,’ ‘Weapons,’ and more.

5) CAA and YouTube roll out a new AI likeness detection tool to recognize generated deepfakes.

It’s designed to flag generated likenesses and protect talent. Currently invite-only for select creators, with a wider rollout coming via YouTube’s Partner Program. More on that here.

7) Vogue World: Hollywood hits L.A. this weekend

The annual Vogue show celebrates the bond between fashion and film & this year they are raising funds for Hollywood costume designers affected by the fires. LOVE to see it!

Directed by Emmy- and Grammy-winner Mark A. Ritchie, the livestream kicks off 6 p.m. PT this Sunday 10/26 on vogue.com.
