1) Spotify posted their Q2 earnings report this week. Even with premium subscribers rising to 276 million and monthly active users growing 11%, they missed their revenue target and the stock dropped 12%.

2) Innovative Artists gets into the Sports business.

3) 200 African artists have reached Shazam’s Global Top 200 chart over the past year. 12 tracks have reached the Top 10 with 3 securing the number 1 spot.

4) TikTok and iHeartRadio team up for a live music competition for unsigned artists (with at least 50k followers). With the impending downfall of TV programs as we know it, they are seemingly looking to replace American Idol & The Voice.

5) Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ just broke the record for the biggest Netflix US film opening ever. It’s had VERY mixed reviews, but was packed with the most insane list of cameos of anything since maybe Entourage. Everyone from Steve Buscemi to Alex Earl and even the CEO of Netflix’ daughter.
