Endeavor’s premiere art fair company Frieze is being sold to… drumroll please… the CEO of WME Group (formerly Endeavor) Ari Emanuel in a deal worth $200m. Emanuel is setting up a new company to purchase Frieze, which operates 7 international arts fairs, along with editorial and digital arts platforms. This comes on the heels its $13B buyout by the private equity firm Silver Lake, a deal that took Endeavor private in March. Confused? Read on here. 

The Met Gala raised $31 million this year, the most in it’s 77 year history. Guests paid $75,000 a ticket (by invitation only) or $350,000 and up for a table. Corporate sponsors also make large donations, all of which go to the running of the Met's Costume Institute.

Trump announced plans for a 100% tariff on movies made overseas, and studio executives were caught off guard. In response to the news, The White Lotus has decided on Scranton, PA as its Season 4 filming location. (This is a joke, but imagine).

Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts*’ topped the box office this week with $76 million domestically. The film earned another $86 million globally, leaving it at $162 million for the first week. ‘Sinners’ landed in the number two spot with $33 million, and currently sits at $236 million globally.

Live Nation’s revenue took a hit in Q1, but CEO Michael Rapino says 2025 will be ‘historic year for live music.’ In the year to mid-April, total ticket sales were up double digits to 95 million, but revenue fell -11% YoY to $3.38B. In terms of pricing backlash, Rapino said: “I would say we’re still in the early innings of the industry becoming better at pricing, smarter at it.. [It’s] somewhere between a science and an art right now.” Read the full breakdown here.

Ryan Reynolds is in the early stages of writing a Deadpool and X-Men team up movie. Reminder that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the top grossing R-rated movie of all time.

‘Hamilton’ became the first original cast album to log 500 weeks on the Billboard 200. That’s almost as many weeks as the average Assistant has been waiting for a promotion in Hollywood. The accomplishment arrived shortly after the album was elected into the National Recording Registry.

A group of TikTokers joined NBCUniversal three years ago in a new initiative aimed at transforming social media influencers into the next generation of TV show creators. Fast forward to today, and four of these creators are releasing their own shows on Peacock. Obviously the traditionalists will have many opinions, but the model is intriguing: growing talent in-house and surrounding them with resources vs. bringing in external talent.

Ghost’s ‘Skeletá’ is the first hard rock album to earn the number one spot on the Billboard 200 in over 4 years. The project sold 86,000 equivalent units, and it is also the only rock, hard rock, or alternative album to be reach one in 2025 so far.

The release of GTA VI has been delayed to May 26, 2026, another blow to Rockstar Games & owner Take-Two Interactive. The Gaming industry has been struggling in recent years, with 14,600 layoffs in 2024 and an expected 6,500+ in 2025.
