Endeavor, the Hollywood Entertainment giant and parent company of talent agency WME, is going private once again in a $25 billion deal by Silver Lake. Endeavor is rebranding as ‘The WME Group,’ and the former Endeavor/WME executive chairman Patrick Whitesell will exit to launch a $250 million new media investment platform venture backed by Silver Lake as well as taking the football division of WME Sports with him. Ari Emanuel, who founded Endeavor in 1995, becomes executive chairman of WME Group while remaining CEO and executive chair of TKO Group. He will also continue as an active agent for top WME clients like Martin Scorsese, Mark Wahlberg, Larry David. Both received pretty pretty nice paydays (see below):

Severance has officially been renewed for a third season, and Apple TV+ is reportedly ready to lose $1 billion a year ($15B-$20B on its streaming business in its first 10 years) for the production of their original content. They spend around $5B+ per year on content.

Here is how Apple TV compares to their competition (subscriber count):

• Apple TV: 45 million

• Hulu: 51 million

• Disney+: 125 million

• Amazon Prime Video: 200 million (which includes Prime members so take that with a grain of salt)

• Netflix: 301 million

Short answer… uh does it really matter? Apple posted $93.7 billion in net PROFITS in 2024.

Spotify made two massive plays within AI this week. They certified their first two fully AI generated albums, and they’ve entered the field of AI generated audiobooks. Both decisions pose a strong question for how this will affect human created work, and we recommend reading both articles above to stay informed.

Napster (yes that Napster) just got bought for $207 million. No that isn’t a typo.

‘Snow White’ bombed (comparatively) at the box office, debuting at $43 million domestically. It will take a miracle to cover the $270 million budget with an additional $100 million marketing costs on top.

Deeper Look: Disney’s ‘Mufasa: Lion King’ debuted at just $35 million before it went on to reach $700 million globally, so the numbers could change quickly. More can be found about how both films performed, as well as about Snow White’s inner cast controversy here.

Primary Wave recently acquired a large stake in Biggie Smalls catalog in a deal valuing his work at over $200 million. Financial terms are yet to be disclosed, but Primary Wave’s ultimate goal is "to pursue projects that elevate Biggie Smalls’ status as a legend.” The move was approved by B.I.G.’s mother before she passed, and you can read about that here.

Concord has obtained LA based distribution company Stem for over $50 million. Concord is also making an investment into a royalty accounting and financial tools platform called Tone on top of that, which was launched by Stem’s management team in 2023. Learn what this move means here.
