Twitter (now X) co-founder Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk have called for a deletion of all IP law. In an era where Artists, Actors, Authors etc. are fighting for more rights in regards to the protection of AI training on their work, this is a new low.
‘A Minecraft Movie’ is now the highest grossing movie of 2025, reaching over $550 million globally, and now has its eye’s set on $1 billion. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ set the previous mark at $410 million globally, and has been out for 7 weeks longer. Complete shocker here for many.

Universal’s new Epic Universe park, opening in May, is projected to generate $2 billion for Florida in year one.
Coachella Weekend 1 is officially in the books (but you already knew that if you follow any influencer). The list of surprise acts reads like its own festival: Charli XCX brought out Lorde, Billie Eilish, Benson Boone teamed up with Queen’s Brian May (seemed like no one in the young-leaning crowd registered who he was), Zedd surprised fans by playing drums for his own special guest John Mayer after bringing out Maren Morris. But the most buzz-worthy one? Bernie Sanders’ DJ set introduction of Clairo.

The Chinese government has restricted the number of Hollywood films it would allow to be shown in its movie theaters. U.S. film revenue have been steadily declining in China since the expiration of the U.S.-China Film Agreement in 2017, which guaranteed 34 U.S. films would be released a year in China.
In 2019, nine U.S. titles generated more than $100 million at Chinese box offices. In the last 5+ years, only eight total American films have hit that number. China’s domestic film market is thriving. Earlier this year, China’s Ne Zha 2 became the only movie in history to generate $1 billion in a single market at the box office.
HBO’s Harry Potter TV series officially confirmed the 6 actors who will be playing the professors. This includes Hagrid, Snape, Dumbledore, and more, but the main characters are still yet to be announced.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s 2024 pay rose 4% to nearly $42 million.
3-time Oscar winning film ‘The Brutalist’ is finally set to be released on streaming platforms. The movie won Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Actor, and will be available to watch on Max on May 16th. More on that here.
